When We Are Closed
If you try to contact the surgery when we are closed your telephone call will be automatically diverted to the Out of Hours Service. A telephone answer machine will let you know that you are being connected to them.
The local Out of Hours care is commissioned by Wiltshire Primary Care Trust and provided by Wiltshire Medical Services. Telephone: 0300 111 5717.
The nearest Treatment Centre is at the Westminster Memorial Hospital, Shaftesbury and you may be asked to attend there if appropriate. Some queries can be dealt with over the telephone or a doctor may visit you at home.
The Treatment Centre is open at weekends and Bank Holidays from 10am - 3pm and 6pm - 9pm. All appointments have to be booked through Wiltshire Medical Services on the above phone number as sometimes there is no doctor on duty and your journey may be wasted if an acutal appointment time is not obtained.
Westminster Memorial Hospital at Shaftesbury also run a Minor Injury Unit which is open from 9am -1pm and 1.30pm - 5.30pm. At weekends it is open from 10am - 3.30pm.
NHS Direct
In the case of urgent need when the practice is closed you can call
NHS Direct (0845 4647) to speak to a triage nurse. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
